Cookies

For the proper functioning of a website, it is often necessary to use a certain type of file called a cookie.

Cookies are small files, sized under 4 KB, saved on the browsing device (desktop PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet). Their purpose is to store information about the user of that website or server. This information can be accessed, similar to storage, either by the website user or by the server. In this way, the server can provide a customised experience to the user.

Some examples of the use of a cookie:

  • Remembering the user's login session, by clicking the Remember login data
  • checkbox
  • Serving a custom interface by selecting a specific website color palette

By default, most web browsers have the option to accept cookies enabled, having the option to disable this feature.

Also, any user can view the cookies stored in the browsing device, or delete them.

The origin of a cookie can be directly from the web server of the site in question or from external sources. For example, by using certain external services (web traffic analysis libraries) certain cookies, which are not the direct object of the website in question, can be accepted by the user's navigation device.

Cookies also have a validity period, after which the cookies in question are automatically destroyed.
